“Anna” is a short film by Matthew Solomon just in time for Halloween. Short horror and thriller films rarely make my blood pressure rise. “Anna” did. I got goose bumps. The concept of an old ghost story brought into the 21st century has not been done like this. It was freaky as hell!
The actors made the film. In each scene, I was watching their expressions and how they connected with each other. I was brought into their world through their love, their happiness and the pain.
The special effects that were used were subtle enough to make you think the events are really happening. This includes the makeup/
I would recommend this film especially for filmmakers who are looking to create a perfect short film with all the fixings of a full feature thriller. Let me give you some advice: you better research where you want to move before you move in or you may not live to regret it.

A creepy twist on the found-footage genre that will have you checking over your shoulder by the final frame. A Good from The Basement on this.

"Anna" is fantastic. The tension builds as each day passes, and ends in creepy paranormal fashion. The story is set up well, and the acting is great. To top it off, the film “was shot entirely using only video chat footage, simultaneously in London and Los Angeles.

"Anna" is a short and clever blast of terror.
The style is like a Paranormal Activity realism, but with the twist of the live video chat.
Lisa-Marie Long from The Hike plays Laura, with a bit of a subdued playful tone at first, but it works for this film as she does not know about the haunting that is happening in L.A. in their new place. Lisa is an attractive girl next door type who comes across as a regular person, not trying to over act or over react to the situation. Repeat viewings bring out the nuances she brings to the character.
We see the couple chat over the course of the week, but things become increasingly strange. I am not going to spoil it, but this film has a solid ending payoff.
The direction from Matthew Solomon, who also plays the lead David, is natural. His character is just a guy in a new place, unfamiliar with his surroundings. He has short conversation with a Realtor named Annette about the place, but video chats with his wife are the main focus.
I watched Anna four times before reviewing it and each time I slightly changed my rating.

..."Anna" was shot entirely on SKYPE between London and LA, which alone is pretty cool. In the spirit of short films it relies on both good acting and a surprise twist to keep the viewer anticipating what will come next.
It’s a short film so I don’t want to spoil it by giving too much away, but suffice it to say I watched the last few minutes with my hands over the screen, peeking through my fingers. Again, I am a Grade A chicken when it comes to this sort of stuff! ANNA is a creative and suspenseful short film is the perfect sort of thing to watch to get you in the mood this Halloween.
